Russia’s north-western region of Karelia has devised a project for a 15 Mtpa harbour to be built at the town of Belomorsk, near the entrance to the White Sea-Baltic Sea canal and the strategically important rail and road transport hub connecting it with Finland, the transpolar Kola Peninsula
and mainland Russia.
