South Asian investment for Beira

Indian firm Essar has announced plans to develop a coal export terminal at the Port of Beira in Mozambique. The facility will have initial handling capacity of 10 Mtpa, with the possibility to expand to 20 Mtpa at a later date. It is understood that Essar will develop the New Coal Terminal of Beira (NCTB) in partnership with state-owned Mozambican transport utility Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), with the partners holding 70% and 30% respectively.
