Ministry backs Yuzhny development project

Ukraine’s transport ministry has endorsed the plan to develop the seaport of Yuzhny located some 30 km northeast of Odessa by 2015. All of Ukraine’s major harbours are owned by the state.

Dnipropetrovsk-based TD Privat (TDP), one of Ukraine’s largest grain traders, has started construction of its own grain terminal which will have over 2 mta handling capacity and 125,000 tpa one-time storage capacity at the Ukrainian port of Yuzhny. The company plans to invest around €19M in the project.

Ukraine’s state-owned design and research institute Chernomorniiproekt has started development of the country’s first ever purpose-designed cement terminal, to be built at the Port of Yuzhny.

Odessa-based Aladdin has signed a US$43 mill contract with Barra Partners of the USA and Nyplex and Unitas from the UK to construct the first dedicated cement terminal at the Ukrainian Port of Yuzhny.
