Vortex Global has acquired SolidEx, known for its efficient spin loader technology, enhancing rail car loading beyond traditional 80-85% capacity limits.
Kansas-headquartered Vortex Global, a provider of components for the transport and flow control of dry bulk solids, has announced the acquisition of SolidEx, an integrator of rail car loading solutions based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
SolidEx is renowned for its innovative spin loader technology, developed by Tom DePierri with clean loading and fill efficiency in mind.
This solution addresses the challenges of traditional railcar loading methods, which typically fill railcars to only 80-85% capacity.
The spin loader distributes plastic pellets, increasing railcar fill rates to 99% and generating cost savings. Additionally, this technology offers a cleaner, environmentally friendly alternative to previous loading methods and supports the Operation Clean Sweep initiative to prevent plastic pellets, flakes, and powder from entering the environment during the rail car loading process
SolidEx and Vortex have enjoyed a 10+ year partnership. During that time, Vortex manufactured the SolidEx loading equipment that connects to the spin loader, including positioners and loading spouts.
Founded in 1977, Vortex Global specialises in designing and manufacturing components for dry bulk solids’ transport and flow control. Serving over 20,000 companies worldwide, Vortex’s global service network spans more than 120 countries. SolidEx will now be part of the Vortex family of companies.
