G2 Ocean plans to expand its fleet to ten by adding two 82,300 dwt ammonia/methanol-ready vessels, to be delivered in 2028 and 2029.
G2 Ocean, a partnership between Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group, intends to expand its fleet by adding two more ammonia/methanol-ready open hatch vessels, increasing the total number of such ships to ten. These new vessels, each with a capacity of 82,300 dwt, are scheduled for delivery by Gearbulk in 2028 and 2029.
The vessels will be sister ships to the Pulpmax vessels ordered earlier this year and will be constructed at the same shipyard, with the delivery dates set for October 2028 and January 2029.
In addition to these new ships, G2 Ocean previously announced that Grieg Maritime Group, a shareholder and pool partner, will contribute four ammonia-ready vessels to the fleet in 2026, while Gearbulk will add four more ammonia-ready vessels in the first half of 2027. This will bring the total number of dual-fuel 82,300 dwt open hatch vessels to ten.
“The design of these vessels strengthens our service offering and will help us to meet evolving customer requirements. We very much appreciate the support of Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group on these newbuilds,” says Arthur English, CEO of G2 Ocean. “With the ten Pulpmax vessels ordered we can take important steps on our decarbonisation journey, on our target of becoming net-zero by 2050,” English said.
