Coal crowned king at Duluth

For only the second time in more than 100 years, coal has eclipsed iron ore as the number one cargo moved through the port of Duluth-Superior on the North American Great Lakes. According to a port spokesperson, 15.04 mt of coal were moved through port facilities in 2000 compared to 14.7 mt of iron ore.
