Revisiting how a bulk materials chain works in a port is an important factor in commissioning a new shiploader on the quayside.

Japan’s K Line has reported a modest profit of JPY40M (US$360,000) in the dry bulk segment in the quarter ending 30 June, after making a loss of JPY140M in the same period last year.

Mechanical shiploaders/unloaders are currently experiencing healthy market demand from projects around the world.

Konecranes has reported its first order from Japan for a Konecranes Gottwald Model 4 mobile harbour crane. The crane, which was ordered via Chikuho Seisakusho Co. Ltd (CS), will be dedicated to bulk handling at Miike Port Logistics’ (MPL) terminal in the Port of Miike. The main cargoes will be coal and coconut husk. It will begin operations at the end of 2018.

Tokyo-based K Line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd) has taken delivery of the CORONA WISDOM at the Shin Kasado Dockyard of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, Japan.

Siwertell has secured a contract for an ST 490-M ship-unloader from Norwegian mineral fertiliser producer Yara International.
