LEDs on MHCs illuminate Saqr

Chalmit, a leading manufacturer of lighting for harsh and hazardous environments, has launched the Protecta X LED.

Lighting manufacturer BiNY’s Industrial Internet of Lights (IIOL) system at Caofeidian Bulk Cargo Terminal in Hebei, northeast China, has been transferred to the operator after three months of testing.

LED lights are not standard on mobile harbour cranes, but they make a dramatic difference to lighting in the working area.

The fifth and sixth units of Liebherr’s giant LHM 800 mobile harbour crane design, the world’s biggest MHCs to date, will be the first two to be operated principally as grab cranes, in a four-rope/ double winch configuration. The ‘launch’ customer for the bulk crane is Saqr Port Authority, Ras al-Khaimah, UAE – an existing customer with a fleet of eight Liebherr MHCs and a Liebherr crane operator training centre.

Liebherr has reported some notable mobile harbour cranes contracts for the Middle East, including two LHMs and the first LiSIM LHM 550 simulator unit for the region. A first for the region was the order for the new LiSIM mobile harbour crane simulator for Saqr Port in Ras Al Kaimah, UAE. Launched in 2013, the Liebherr training solution is based on original software and hardware to allow costeffective and highly immersive crane operator training.
