Schade commissions major installation in Vietnam

Aumund Group-owned Schade Lagertechnik has reported orders in the power sector in China, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Vietnam is likely to import coal from 2015, not 2013 as earlier forecast since construction of many thermal power plants has fallen behind schedule.

Coal exports from Australia’s Newcastle, the world’s largest coal export port, have fallen 17%; the number of ships waiting outside the port is also down.

Vietnam plans to export about 19.5 mt of coal out of the country’s total output of 41 mt this year. Domestic demand will swallow up the remaining 21.5 mt, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Bunge Asia, the Asian operating arm of New York headquartered Bunge Limited has announced its acquisition of a 50% stake in the owner/ operator of Phu My Port. The investment provides Bunge with greater opportunity to serve customers in the growing market for agricultural commodities in Vietnam.
