NZ coal in crisis

New Zealand’s stateowned coal miner Solid Energy is in crisis with its debt ballooning to NZ$389M. It made a loss of $40M in its last financial year, attributed to a 40% fall in the value of its coking coal exports compounded by a rise in the NZ dollar value.
