Rio Tinto drops Chinalco for JV with BHP

Miner Rio Tinto has scrapped its proposed $19.5B tie-up with China’s Chinalco and has instead signed a non-binding agreement with BHP Billiton to establish a production joint venture covering the entirety of both companies’ Western Australian iron ore assets.
