Tata eyes South Africa

India’s Tata Steel is considering greatly increasing its investments in South Africa. The company purchased a 35% stake in Riversdale Mining’s coal venture in neighbouring Mozambique in August and is already developing a ferrochrome smelter in Richards Bay, but is now interested in investing in South African iron ore, manganese and coal mining.
