China to reverse its grain flow?

China has been self-sufficient in grain supplies over the past 25 years, but there are fears that it will soon become a net importer. Security of supply is a vital issue, as the famines which swept the country in the late 1950s and early 1960s are estimated to have left 30 million people dead. They are still considered by some Sinologists to be the root cause of the Cultural Revolution.
