The General San Martín Port Terminal invests in Liebherr 420 mobile harbour crane.

The General San Martín Port Terminal, nestled in the heart of the Ica region, Peru has recently acquired a Liebherr 420 mobile harbour crane (LHM 420).

The Liebherr 420 mobile crane has a maximum load capacity of 124 tonnes, and is suitable for container handling as well as handling bulk cargoes.

The investment is aimed at streamlining port operations and optimizing vessel turnaround times.

Lifting capacity (max.) 124 t
Jib length 48 m
Total weight 371 t
Hoisting/lowering max. 120 m/min

The crane will bolster the operational capacity of the terminal, adding to the two Liebherr 550 mobile cranes it currently has.

The port has also invested in an ecological hopper for clinker and slag, which has filters that absorb dust and unique pollution control features.

This ecological hopper TARMA TER-0900 has a capacity to handle 800 tonnes per hour, which will benefit the operational capacity of the terminal, as it will allow high levels of productivity without generating pollution. Currently, it is in the assembly process and it is expected to be operational by July 2024.

The port terminal features a loading and unloading platform equipped to accommodate oversized cargo, facilitated by a specialized access ramp. Moreover, it manages various types of cargo, including passengers, breakbulk, bulk, roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro), containers, and project cargo.
