Kazakhstan builds grain export capacity

Kazakhstan’s Port of Kuryk will expand with three new terminals by 2027, backed by € 184.6m from AD Ports, boosting its role in the Middle Corridor.

Kazakhstan’s Kuryk port has opened a new grain terminal capable of handling 1.5mt annually, addressing capacity issues at Aktau port.

Kazakhstan is planning to invest US$20B in its transport and logistics infrastructure by 2020, as it attempts to evolve into a key Eurasian hub.

Russia and Kazakhstan are urging Ukraine to join with them in forming a Black Sea grain trading pool, aimed at helping them avoid internal competition and to boost grain prices.

FLSmidth has won a contract worth approximately US$63M (approximately DKK 369M) from the Kazakhstani company, Kazakhmys PLC, to design a copper concentrator and supply all the process technology for a plant to be built at their Bozshakol copper mine in Kazakhstan, 220 km north of the capital Astana.

Australian company Great Western Exploration has entered into a Heads of Agreement with Kazakhstan’s state mining company Tau-ken Samruk (TKS) to develop the Spasskaya copper project in a joint venture.
