New outlet for Tete coal
NewsThe Balaka-Lilongwe railway now enables coal imports from Mozambique’s Tete Province, where Indian companies have bought mines to supply coal to India.
New legislation, which is due to come into effect in 2010, will allow only a single port in the Santa Marta-Ciénaga region of Colombia to handle export coal. In addition, enclosed conveyor belts will be the only permitted means of loading deepsea vessels; transhipment using barges will cease.
