Mexico’s Lázaro Cárdenas port stocks up

The Mining and Handling Business Unit of Spanish company Duro Felguera has recently signed a contract worth around US$130M with Greenfield SPV to build new facilities to store and supply coal to the Presidente Plutarco Elías Calles power station. Located in Petacalco, Mexico, the coal-fired plant belongs to the Federal Electricity Commission.

As part of the contract, Duro Felguera will undertake the design, delivery, construction and commissioning of two new coal stockpiles, one of which will be at the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, and the other in the power station. The two will be connected by a dedicated conveyor belt system of more than 6 km in length.
